out-sider

Playful Danish Design

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, out-sider creates innovative outdoor furniture that challenges conventional ideas of how people use public spaces.

Its playful, multifunctional designs combine seating, play, interaction and social connection, creating distinctive environments that encourage people to gather, move and engage with their surroundings.

From the modular LOOP collection to the colourful HopOp range and the contemporary PLATEAU system, out-sider’s products bring a bold Scandinavian design approach to parks, schools, public spaces, commercial developments and residential environments.

Featured Project: East Wick & Sweetwater Phase 2, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London

BSFG supplied a selection of out-sider furniture for East Wick & Sweetwater Phase 2, part of the wider regeneration of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. The scheme incorporated LOOP Circle, LOOP Corner, LOOP Line, LOOP Picnic and HopOp500 products, helping to create informal, flexible seating areas across the development’s public realm and residential landscape.

Selected for their distinctive forms, vibrant colours, durability and lightweight construction, the products contribute to a playful and welcoming environment that encourages social interaction and everyday use.

The modular LOOP system also allowed the furniture to be configured in a variety of ways to suit different spaces throughout the scheme.

BSFG is proud to partner with out-sider, an innovative Danish manufacturer specialising in playful, multifunctional street furniture and outdoor design. Based in Copenhagen, out-sider works with architects and designers to create products that encourage social interaction, movement and engagement within public spaces.

A Distinctive Approach to Outdoor Design

The out-sider collection offers a distinctive alternative to conventional street furniture, combining bold forms, vibrant colours and practical functionality. Its products are designed to support a wide range of outdoor environments, including public realm projects, parks, playgrounds, schools, universities, residential developments, roof terraces and commercial spaces.

LOOP Modular Furniture System

One of out-sider’s best-known collections is LOOP, a modular furniture system designed to give landscape architects and designers extensive freedom when creating outdoor seating arrangements.

The collection includes curved seating, benches, tables, planters and interactive elements that can be combined in different configurations to create social and flexible environments.

The range is available in a selection of colours and is manufactured from durable rotationally moulded polyethylene.

HopOp Seating Collection

out-sider also produces the HopOp collection, a playful seating range that encourages people to sit, rest, play and interact.

HopOp, HopOp500 and the illuminated HopOp500 Light can be used individually or combined with other products to create distinctive seating landscapes.

PLATEAU Urban Furniture System

PLATEAU introduces a refined, architectural approach to outdoor seating and social space design.

Developed as a single-piece system, it is crafted from durable, paper-based HPL, offering a sustainable and long-lasting material solution for public environments.

Its soft, human-centric geometry and calm Nordic colour palette allow it to integrate seamlessly into a wide range of urban and architectural contexts. PLATEAU encourages flexible use, supporting both individual seating and informal group interaction, making it ideal for contemporary public realm projects where adaptability and visual clarity are key.

Sustainability and Materials

Sustainability is an important consideration within the out-sider range.

Selected products can be manufactured using recycled polyethylene, while the LOOP range has been developed with recyclability and long-term use in mind.

The recycled LOOP products are also associated with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, supporting more responsible material choices for outdoor environments.

PLATEAU further strengthens this commitment through its use of paper-based HPL, offering a durable yet resource-conscious material choice for modern urban furniture.
