Inspira Modular Planting Systems

Inspira is BSFG's innovative modular planting system, designed to help architects, landscape architects and developers create greener, healthier and more sustainable public spaces. Combining modular planters, retaining walls, integrated seating and bespoke landscape features, Inspira offers exceptional design flexibility while delivering significant environmental, social and economic benefits for modern developments.

Enhancing Biodiversity & Urban Ecology

As urban environments continue to expand, creating space for nature has become increasingly important. Inspira provides opportunities to introduce meaningful planting into streetscapes, commercial developments, education campuses and public realm schemes where traditional landscaping may be limited.

By increasing the amount of vegetation within a development, Inspira helps support biodiversity, creating habitats for pollinators, birds and insects while contributing to richer, more resilient urban ecosystems. The modular design allows landscape architects to incorporate diverse planting schemes that evolve and flourish throughout the seasons.

Supporting Sustainable Drainage & Rainwater Management

Green infrastructure plays an important role in managing rainfall within the built environment. The Inspira range enables greater volumes of planting to be incorporated into hard landscaped areas, helping absorb and retain rainwater naturally while reducing surface water runoff.

When integrated into wider Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), planting installations can help reduce pressure on drainage networks, improve water infiltration and contribute towards more climate-resilient developments capable of managing increasingly unpredictable weather patterns.

Improving Air Quality & Reducing Pollution

Planting delivers far more than visual appeal. Trees, shrubs and vegetation naturally capture airborne particulates, absorb carbon dioxide and help filter pollutants generated by vehicles and urban activity. By specifying Inspira throughout public realm and commercial developments, designers can increase green infrastructure that contributes towards cleaner, healthier outdoor environments.

The modular nature of the system makes it easy to integrate substantial planting into streets, plazas, transport hubs and mixed-use developments where improving environmental quality is a key project objective.

Reducing Noise & Creating More Comfortable Spaces

Vegetation can also improve the acoustic quality of outdoor environments. Planting helps soften hard landscapes by absorbing and diffusing sound reflections from surrounding buildings, roads and public spaces, creating calmer and more comfortable places for people to work, relax and socialise.

When combined with integrated seating and thoughtfully designed public spaces, Inspira helps create quieter, more welcoming environments that encourage longer dwell times and increased community interaction.

Cooling Urban Environments

As towns and cities experience rising temperatures, green infrastructure has become an essential tool in reducing the urban heat island effect. Planting introduced through the Inspira system provides natural shade while vegetation releases moisture through evapotranspiration, helping cool surrounding air temperatures.

This creates more comfortable public spaces during warmer months, improving the usability of streets, parks, commercial areas and roof terraces while supporting climate adaptation strategies for future developments.

Supporting Health, Wellbeing & Social Value

Access to attractive green spaces has been shown to positively influence both physical and mental wellbeing. Inspira enables designers to transform underutilised hard landscapes into inviting environments that encourage relaxation, social interaction and everyday connection with nature.

Whether installed within residential developments, healthcare facilities, workplaces or education campuses, landscaped spaces featuring integrated seating and planting can help reduce stress, improve mood and create destinations where people choose to spend more time outdoors. These social benefits contribute to healthier communities while increasing the long-term appeal and value of developments.

Flexible Design for Modern Placemaking

Available as Linear, Form, Bespoke and Protect, the Inspira range offers almost limitless design possibilities. Straight and curved modules can be combined with seating, lighting, charging points, cycle parking and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) solutions to create multifunctional public realm installations tailored to individual projects.

Whether enhancing a city centre, transport hub, commercial development, university campus or residential scheme, Inspira provides landscape architects with the flexibility to deliver attractive, future-proof public spaces that balance environmental performance with outstanding design.

Creating Better Spaces for Future Generations

By integrating planting into the heart of the built environment, Inspira helps create places that are greener, healthier and more resilient. From improving biodiversity and managing rainwater to reducing pollution, cooling urban environments and supporting mental wellbeing, the system delivers measurable environmental and social value alongside exceptional landscape design.
