The Inspira Protect Planter is a specialist security‑led planting solution developed for contemporary urban environments where safety, robustness and visual quality must coexist. Combining impact‑rated protective performance with the softer appearance of landscape planting, the system allows security measures to be incorporated into streetscapes without reliance on traditional bollards or barriers.
Each unit features a fully welded, reinforced steel support frame engineered to withstand vehicle impact. The planter system has been tested to IWA 14‑1:2013, successfully stopping both 1.5‑tonne and 2.5‑tonne vehicles travelling at 30 mph. The higher‑grade variant includes an increased axle impact point at 600 mm, providing additional protection against larger vehicles.
All structural components, including the sub‑frame and external cladding panels, are hot‑dip galvanised to BS EN 1461:2009 and finished with powder‑coated surfaces to project specification. This ensures excellent resistance to corrosion, wear and environmental exposure in high‑risk urban settings. The planter sits on a 150 mm slab foundation, with a shallow‑mounted configuration that offers flexibility across a range of ground conditions.
The Inspira Protect system is modular by design, allowing individual units to be arranged into continuous barriers or scaled‑up layouts where extended protection is required. Beyond security, the integrated planting introduces environmental benefits such as visual softening, air‑quality support and enhanced placemaking. Typical applications include transport interchanges, retail centres, public plazas, pedestrian zones, education campuses and other locations where crowd protection and traffic mitigation are critical.
