Project Details

BSFG collaborated with contractor Renaker Build to deliver the external furniture scheme for Castle Wharf, a premium residential development in Manchester city centre. Working closely with TPM Landscape, we supplied a coordinated range of seating, tables and litter bins to support the canalside terrace and communal outdoor areas.

The furniture package included bespoke oak seating and tables, bar stools, picnic sets and Spencer litter bins, all designed to complement the architectural and landscape vision of the development.

Project Background

Castle Wharf is a contemporary waterside development comprising 188 apartments and penthouses, located within the historic Castlefield Conservation Area in Manchester. Designed by OMI Architects, the scheme reflects the industrial heritage of the surrounding area while delivering high-end urban living

The development features premium resident amenities, including a gym, spa and internal lounge spaces, alongside a carefully designed external terrace overlooking the canal. The landscape concept, developed by TPM Landscape, incorporates sandstone materials inspired by the local environment, creating a strong visual connection to the Castlefield Basin.

As part of BSFG's ongoing partnership with Renaker, this project builds on previous collaborations at Deansgate Square and Crown Street, contributing to the transformation of Manchester’s skyline and residential offering.

Our Solution

BSFG delivered a bespoke and coordinated suite of outdoor furniture designed to enhance the canalside terrace and support social interaction among residents.

A key feature of the scheme is the use of large aged oak beams, integrated into both freestanding furniture and inset within sandstone planter walls, creating a variety of seating options for relaxation, dining and socialising.

To complement the development’s contemporary aesthetic, bar stools, benches and tables, similar to those used at Deansgate Square and Crown Street, were installed. These pieces combine lightweight aluminium frames with durable hardwood surfaces, ensuring both longevity and ease of movement.

Waste management was addressed through the inclusion of Spencer litter bins, finished in premium hardwood to harmonise with the surrounding materials. The bins were positioned throughout the terrace and at key building entrances to maintain a clean and cohesive environment.

Outcome

The completed Castle Wharf development offers a refined and inviting outdoor environment that enhances the residential experience. The combination of natural materials, bespoke design and high-quality street furniture creates a cohesive extension of the building’s architectural identity.

BSFG's contribution has resulted in a versatile social space where residents and guests can relax, dine and connect, reinforcing the development’s position as a leading example of boutique waterside living in Manchester.
