Versio Litter Bin
Versio Litter Bin
Beyond performance, Versio supports social value: it is designed by Studio Wehberg (Hamburg) and produced by Westeifel Werke, a non‑profit organisation whose mission is “no one excluded” and which creates inclusive employment and participation in working and community life for people with disabilities.
The Versio corpus Litter Bin is part of the wider Versio system, a family of public‑realm furniture designed to be representative, durable and adaptable across many settings. Within BSFG projects, Versio is specified where designers need a bin that is visually restrained yet exceptionally robust—well suited to parks, pedestrian zones, city centres and transport‑adjacent environments.
Versio corpus is manufactured from 10 mm steel, laser‑cut and welded, then supplied galvanised (and can be powder‑coated to RAL on request). This heavy‑gauge construction delivers the rigidity expected for demanding public spaces, while maintaining crisp, contemporary geometry. The bin includes a removable inner bin in stainless steel (V2A) for clean handling and efficient servicing cycles.
Servicing is controlled via a DIN / 8 mm triangular lock (key included), supporting secure operation in public settings. The unit is available with or without an ashtray, allowing the specification to suit smoke‑free areas or high‑use frontages where cigarette litter needs to be captured.
Versio corpus is intended for fixed installation. Standard versions are supplied with extended feet for subsurface anchoring, with an indicative installation depth of ~16 cm below finished ground level (for paving up to 10 cm), and ground fixation is obligatory—a design choice that improves stability and vandal resistance.
The BSFG‑listed Versio corpus litter bin is L 380 mm × D 350 mm × H 950 mm with 50 L capacity, making it compact enough for tight pavements while still providing practical volume for busy routes.
The Versio range is produced by Westeifel Werke, a gemeinnützige (non‑profit) organisation whose stated mission is “Kein Mensch mehr ausgeschlossen” (“no one excluded”). Their model focuses on creating inclusive work adapted to individual needs, supporting participation in work and community life for people with disabilities.
In addition, Westeifel Werke highlights that their freiraumausstattung products are made from purist materials such as metal, wood and concrete, designed to meet the requirements of durable public furniture while aligning with their inclusive production conditions.
