The RUBINO Litter Bin embodies Metalco’s expertise in combining sculptural form with robust, practical street‑furniture engineering. Constructed from PDM (reconstituted stone), the cylindrical body features horizontal grooves that enhance its tactile surface and give it a contemporary yet substantial appearance. The recessed base ensures that cleaning crews can sweep and wash around the unit easily, making RUBINO particularly suitable for high‑traffic environments.
The bin is topped with a painted steel lid incorporating a central waste‑insertion opening. This lid uses a snap‑lock mechanism to secure the top in place, supporting safe, quick servicing. Inside, RUBINO includes an integrated bag‑holder ring, allowing standard waste sacks to be fixed neatly and securely.
RUBINO is the work of Staubach Kuckertz, an architecture and design studio founded in 1995 by Prof. Helmut Staubach and Eng. Uwe Kuckertz. The studio brings expertise across architecture, civil engineering, product design, public‑transport infrastructure and urban planning — a breadth reflected in the commercial durability and elegant minimalism of the RUBINO bin.
