The Plateau Point Sun is an intelligent lighting accessory developed to extend the usability of Plateau picnic tables into the evening hours. Designed to replace the standard steel discs found on compatible Plateau tables, Point Sun introduces discreet, integrated illumination without the need for external power sources, groundworks or cabling.
During daylight hours, Point Sun’s monocrystalline solar cell captures and stores energy in an internal rechargeable battery. As ambient light levels fall, the unit automatically activates, emitting a gentle, warm white light that illuminates the table surface and surrounding seating area. At dawn, the light switches off again, conserving stored energy for the next cycle. The output adapts intelligently to the amount of energy collected during the day, ensuring reliable performance throughout the year.
The light is emitted in a horizontal and downward direction, reducing glare while providing functional illumination for reading, eating or gathering. This makes Plateau Point Sun particularly well suited to parks, campuses, school grounds and urban spaces where lighting needs to balance atmosphere, safety and visual restraint. The unit is fully off‑grid, CO₂‑neutral during operation, and functions without dependence on the electrical grid.
Constructed from durable outdoor materials, the unit features a painted aluminium base and a UV‑stabilised polycarbonate light cylinder, designed to withstand weather exposure and vandal‑resistant conditions. It is rated for outdoor use, with high ingress and impact protection. Installation is straightforward, using the existing fixing points on compatible Plateau tables, and the unit is secured in place using tamper‑resistant fixings. Maintenance is minimal, limited to occasional cleaning and battery replacement after extended service life.
