The PACK Litter Bin is part of Metalco’s refined steel urban‑furniture portfolio, designed by Massimo Tasca, whose work emphasises precision, material integrity and the relationship between furniture and landscape. PACK is engineered around a thick steel sheet supporting structure, delivering long‑term resistance to vandalism, weather exposure and intensive public‑space use. Its minimalist rectangular footprint ensures a clean architectural presence suitable for contemporary streets, promenades, retail districts and civic spaces.
Each PACK unit is composed of two specular side panels: one fixed, and the other opening via a snap‑lock mechanism. This simplifies maintenance while ensuring secure closure. Internally, PACK includes a bag‑holder ring, keeping liners taut and hidden from view—maintaining an orderly appearance across pedestrian areas. A top cover helps protect the waste aperture from rain and wind, supporting cleaner operation throughout the year.
The PACK range is available with or without an integrated ashtray. The ashtray version places a cigarette‑extinguishing stainless‑steel plate directly on the openable panel, with an internal collection container for safe disposal. This makes PACK a practical choice for locations where smoking waste is common—transport hubs, commercial frontages, and hospitality precincts.
PACK units can be installed side‑by‑side to create customised recycling islands, a feature particularly valuable for urban districts aiming to promote waste segregation while maintaining uniform visual identity. The versatility and structural solidity of PACK make it a highly adaptable BSFG‑supplied solution for both functional and design‑conscious public‑realm projects.
