The Manchester PU Bollard is a robust and visually familiar streetscape element, engineered to provide reliable protection and boundary definition in public‑realm, commercial and transport settings. Its traditional form makes it well suited to heritage‑sensitive areas, while its advanced polyurethane construction delivers modern performance advantages over conventional metal bollards.
Each bollard is manufactured with an integral mild steel core, complete with a 300 mm root and anchoring bar, which is then fully encapsulated in high‑performance polyurethane (Ultrathane 6000). This construction method creates a strong, impact‑resistant bollard that can absorb minor vehicle contact, reducing damage to both vehicles and the bollard itself. Unlike cast iron or steel bollards, the polyurethane exterior does not rust, flake or corrode, significantly reducing maintenance requirements in exposed environments.
Supplied as standard in a black polyurethane finish, the Manchester PU Bollard retains its appearance over time, even in locations subject to heavy usage or adverse weather conditions. Optional reflective banding can be added to improve night‑time visibility and assist with traffic demarcation, supporting safer operation in mixed pedestrian and vehicle areas.
The bollard is suitable for installation in a wide range of settings including town centres, retail car parks, transport interchanges, campuses and pedestrianised zones.
