The KLARA R Park Bench is a refined circular seating system designed to bring social interaction, comfort and sculptural character to the public realm. Conceived by Swedish design studio DinellJohansson, KLARA R forms part of a broader family of benches originally developed for Stockholm’s Klara Church district and now widely used in European cities for their distinctive simplicity and high usability.
The bench’s geometry features gently rounded seat and back profiles, improving ergonomics and providing a welcoming form that encourages users to settle, talk, rest or observe their surroundings. Optional armrests increase accessibility, supporting elderly users and those needing assistance when standing, helping meet inclusive design and Equality Act requirements.
Every steel component is manufactured from robust hot‑dip galvanised steel, delivering an exceptionally durable, self‑healing surface that resists corrosion and requires very little maintenance throughout its lifespan. This ensures KLARA R performs reliably in demanding urban environments. Timber slats are available in Kebony Clear—a sustainable, high‑performance modified softwood—or mahogany in either oil‑treated or untreated form. Both timber options are chosen for their long‑term weathering performance and premium aesthetic.
HITSA’s technical datasheet confirms the use of substantial engineering components, including 33 mm steel tube legs, 45×10 mm flattened steel brackets and 76×45 mm seating slats, supporting a stable, resilient structure. Installation can be either bolt‑down or in‑ground using recommended Ø400 × 600 mm foundations, with a standard seat height of 480 mm for universal comfort.
