EGEDAL 2 Litter Bin
Designed by Aarhus‑based design studio VE2 in collaboration with HITSA, the Egedal 2 litter bin has been developed to combine strong visual identity with practical functionality for modern public realm environments. Supplied by BSFG as part of the CROWD group offering, Egedal 2 is characterised by its square geometry, rounded corners and clearly defined front panel, creating a distinctive yet approachable presence in streetscapes and open spaces.
Egedal 2 is manufactured from hot‑dip galvanised steel, providing excellent resistance to corrosion and everyday wear in outdoor environments. The entire unit can be supplied either with a plain galvanised finish or powder‑coated in any RAL colour, allowing the bin to be coordinated with wider landscape and architectural palettes. The combination of steel surfaces also enables custom visual treatments using colour contrasts or cut‑out detailing.
The bin features a side‑opening waste aperture, available in single or double configurations, designed to limit access by birds and improve cleanliness. Emptying is efficient and maintenance‑friendly: the side‑hinged hatch opens outward, followed by the bag holder swinging out to allow quick liner removal and replacement. Egedal 2 can also be prepared for the integration of a fill‑level sensor, supporting smarter maintenance regimes where required.
Egedal 2 is available in three capacities – 40 litres, 80 litres and 105 litres – all sharing the same overall height, which allows multiple units to be installed side by side for waste sorting. The front panel provides clear space for waste‑fraction identification, with removable pictograms that can be easily updated if sorting requirements change. Optional pictograms with Braille or raised lettering support inclusive design approaches.
Designed for use in public spaces, Egedal 2 supports both single‑waste and multi‑stream recycling strategies and can be specified as part of larger modular waste systems. Its durability, adaptability and consistent proportions make it suitable for parks, pedestrian zones, transport environments, educational campuses and civic developments where long‑term performance and visual coherence are required.
