The DIAMOND Litter Bin embodies Metalco’s commitment to high-performance urban street furniture, delivering both functional durability and refined material detail. Its powder‑coated or stainless‑steel structure is engineered to withstand demanding public‑realm conditions, while the rain cover protects the waste aperture and internal components from weather exposure.
Accessed via a front door with snap‑lock, the bin is designed for efficient servicing. Inside, an elasticised sack ring ensures bags remain securely fastened and hidden from view, contributing to cleaner, tidier environments. The DIAMOND also incorporates an integrated ashtray and container, supporting cigarette‑waste management without separate units. A stainless‑steel top plate provides a safe extinguishing point for smoking materials, reducing fire risk and enhancing user convenience.
The bin is anchored by a hexagonal concrete base, chosen for its stability, anti‑vandal characteristics and long-term durability in high‑footfall zones. The design reflects the work of Mattia Li Pomi, an Italian industrial designer known for Material‑driven urban furniture, and a long-standing member of Metalco’s Research & Development department. Li Pomi's work is defined by clarity, precision and thoughtful integration of materials such as steel, aluminium and HPC—qualities demonstrated throughout the DIAMOND model.
