COMFORT Bench
COMFORT Bench
The COMFORT Park Bench is one of HITSA’s longest‑standing designs, created originally in collaboration with Ginman, Harboe, Borup Landscape Architects. It was first introduced alongside a 1988 construction exhibition and has since become a well‑loved standard in Danish and international public landscapes. Relaunched and refined in 2014, the bench maintains its original silhouette while adopting a more contemporary and timeless expression suitable for both heritage and modern contexts.
Engineered for resilience, the COMFORT bench features a robust hot‑dip galvanised steel frame—ensuring a self‑healing surface against minor abrasion, low maintenance demands and extended service life. Powder‑coating can be specified in any RAL colour without compromising the underlying galvanised protection. For enhanced user comfort, the seat and backrest use FSC®‑certified mahogany slats, available oil‑treated or untreated. Slats are fastened from behind, leaving the front profile visually clean and without visible fixings.
The COMFORT bench is designed for accessibility and universal usability. Models with armrests support assisted rising, providing inclusive seating options particularly suited for elderly users or high‑footfall civic environments. As standard, installation options include embedding or bolting; HITSA’s technical guidance recommends Ø300 × 600 mm foundations and a 450 mm seat height (front edge) for optimal ergonomics.
Supplied in the UK by BSFG and manufactured by our sister company HITSA, COMFORT brings decades of Nordic craftsmanship, durability and design clarity to public‑realm projects seeking trustworthy, timeless outdoor seating.
